New Year's Resolution

I love the Christmas season - a time where I can reflect on the past year and look forward to the next. Looking forward includes setting some New Year's resolutions, which I love, too. While I'm not the best at remembering or keeping them, I try hard to come up with relevant goals. Past resolutions have included starting my own company (uh, you're looking at it), learning PHP (I learned it but not enough), creating an application (for 2006), and exercising more (I need new belts, unfortunately).

For 2007, however, I want to do something different. Instead of having a list of resolutions for the next year, I want to focus on one. One that I will always remember and improve on throughout the year. So in the spirit of simplicity, my one resolution for next year is to plan betterplan better at work, at home, for my hobbies and personal pursuits, for occasions, for daily tasks, for meetings, for personal health, etc.

Of course, execution of the plan is key but planning allows a clearer picture and sometimes more time for execution. I also think focusing on planning better will affect many aspects of what I do in life. I need to look far enough ahead so I can take better advantage of opportunities I have in front of me. I have been doing too many things with little or no preparation. I have been the epitomy of just-in-time.

Not anymore, my friends. 2007 will be different. Totally different. I bid you farewell, 2006. And I bid you goodbye. I need to get my wife a Christmas present.
