Learning + Succeeding
As a father, teacher, leader, and manager, there are two things I want those under my care to understand: (1) I want them to learn and (2) I want them to succeed.
Learning is just as important as succeeding. Number one is critical before getting to number two. I sometimes get criticized for not helping someone succeed but they often forget my intention is to have them learn first. So sometimes I hold back, but I'm really pushing them forward so they learn.
In short, success is always learned.
Do everything you can to help someone succeed, whether it be creating an environment for them to be successful, giving them the tools and resources needed, and supporting their decisions. Always be that resource for those who rely on you and you will be more successful.
