Stranger Than Fiction
Spoiler alert.
Stranger than Fiction is funny, smart, touching, and thought provoking. I loved the movie from beginning to end. The titles are probably the best that I've seen in a long time (created by MK12). The set being stuck in an earlier era is beautifully representative of the life Harold Crick lived as a boring IRS agent. The dialog between the characters was not the best but most of it was narrated by Emma Thompson, which I loved. Very early in the movie, the narrator presented the climax: the death of Harold Crick. Will Ferrell took over from there.
The fact that the the movie had an okay ending and that the characters in the movie talked about being fine with an okay ending (just before the ending) is brilliant! I know that was a bit confusing but you just have to watch it. If Harold Crick would have died, the ending of the movie as a tragedy would have been great, which was what the characters were saying the movie should end with. Brilliant again!
The movie is so smart and well done that it makes me appreciate the art of film even more. Great casting, great cinematography, great set design, great soundtracks, and great titles.
I highly recommend the movie. Please go see it.
