Everything is man-made for sure but The City is an awesome experience and I absolutely love it.

Here are some photos I took last spring when we went to a Tufte conference. Our free time was devoted to visiting museums and the different sites around the island. We made use of every minute we could get and we were exhausted by the time we came back home.

A car behind me clipped another car as it changed lanes; that car rear ended me in 0.25 seconds. It happened all too fast but I got to see it all with my side rear view mirror. It was "Oh cr..." and bam! Here are the results: Eight stitches and a totaled car.

]]> Gilbert Lee 2008-02-24T22:39:13-07:00 Vacation At Last http://www.plainsimple.org/journal/archives/2007/11/vacation_at_las.php We looked forward to a family vacation for a long time and we finally made it to Kauai this month. Carol and I were really nervous about the flights with our three little girls but everything went fine. We had a good share of fresh fruit - papayas, mangoes, grapefruit, bananas, pummelos, and more. The weather was great, water was warm, people were friendly, and food was delicious.

There's a bit of nostalgia even though it has not been that long. We've loved this house and our wonderful neighborhood. My favorite part of our house is the tree swing in the backyard. The girls love it and so do Carol and I. We were tired from packing last night but Carol and I went to the backyard and swung one last time, under the full moon. I know it's cheesy but it's, you know, the good times.

So here we are, ready to start a new part of our lives, ready to make new friends and not so ready to work on new projects. We're closer to the mountains, which will be nice. There's more space in the new house but not terribly more. There's a two-car garage, which I've never had in five years. Yay!

Well, I have to get back to packing and more taping. Good bye.
